Transcript Production Process:
All transcripts are produced working from both the room audio and mask track audio to allow for the most accurate completed transcript. Research is conducted on obscure names/places/terminology. Proofreading for correct punctuation and grammar usage is performed to hard copy after completion of transcript. I use and abide by Morson's English Guide for Court Reporters and the preferred formatting of words and phrases as indicated in One Word, Two Words, Hyphenated? in addition to your individual preferences.
I request that all reporters fill out the following Reporter Preference Form when we begin working together. This allows me to adapt my transcription style to your preferences, eliminating editing time upon return of the transcript for stylistic changes.
Turnaround Times:
Although I strive to return all transcripts within three business days, normal turnaround time is between five and seven days. Any transcripts required before five days will be invoiced at an expedited rate.
I realize that even the best transcript is worth nothing if it is not completed on time. Therefore, I request deadline information be sent with each job. This allows me to ensure that your deadline is never compromised.
Rates:
Rates vary depending upon audio quality and the nature of the material to be transcribed. Please contact me for more specific information on the current rate structure.
Availability:
Currently available for long-term partnerships and overflow work. Flexible schedule to accommodate expedited and daily copy work.
File/Audio Types Supported:
All transcripts are produced in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or ProCAT VR, by preference.
Currently, I accept all forms of digital audio, including .wav, .mp3, .wma, and four-channel recordings. Analog formats are not currently supported, but can be converted using an audio editing program such as Audacity. Conversion services are provided at a rate of $25.00 per file, if needed, and the resulting digital audio file will be provided along with the completed transcript. Complimentary audio editing is provided to enhance audio quality when needed, especially in cases of soft speakers and excessive background noise, to ensure an accurate completed transcript.
Because the quality of the audio directly affects the quality of the transcript, we listen to each file upon receipt to ensure that the material is of such a quality that it can be transcribed. In the event of questionable audio, we will contact you immediately to discuss available options. We do reserve the right to return any audio that we deem unable to be transcribed due to the quality of the recording.
Complimentary File Transfer:
All clients are provided access to a secure file transfer service for transmittal of audio files and completed transcripts. Files may be uploaded via the Upload File link. A password is required to use this service, which will be provided upon commencement of a working relationship.
File Archiving:
All completed transcripts are archived for a period of six months after completion.
